Architect awarded for conversion

AN ARCHITECT has won a regional award for converting 16th century listed buildings into offices.

Peter Landon is a director of Nuttall, Yarwood and Partners Ltd, which has offices in Dodworth.

He was responsible for working on a complex at the Stanhope Buildings at Horsforth, Leeds.

The project involved complicated planning and ecological issues and included an archaeological excavation, before work was allowed to get underway. Stone mullions were retained, natural oak windows used throughout the building and external stone walls were retained or rebuilt from stone recovered from other parts of the building.

Mr Landon, of Dodworth, said: "We were up against all the other property professionals in Yorkshire, so it is a prestigious award."

The award presented to Nuttall, Yarwood and Partners was in the commercial category of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Pro-Yorkshire awards.
