BARNSLEY and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce president Tracey Lally has quit following a plunge in membership during the credit crunch. She has resigned because she believes the chamber should be doing more to support businesses.

A GARAGE owner has had a decision to refuse his plans to alter his business overturned. Robert Norman applied to the council to change the use of The Yard on West Road, Pogmoor, from haulage and car storage to a garage and MOT station, car sales, dismantling storage of vehicle parts.

AN opposition councillor says the council is way behind neighbouring local authorities when it comes to creating jobs. BIG finance spokesperson Coun Bill Gaunt said that, according to one report, job growth figures in Barnsley over five years were nine per cent while the comparative figure for Rotherham Council's area was 22 per cent.
